Drake season has official begun in full swing. With the 6 man releasing his latest effort, Views ain’t no telling how anyone can stop this man. The 6 is a reference to Toronto. Drake’s new album features a whooping 20 tracks with features from WizKid, Kyla, Future, PartyNextDoor, Pimp C, dvsn, and Rihanna. Clocking in at around the hour and a half mark, Views like any Drake release is not lackluster or long-winding. Instead it features all the sides of Drake his fans have come to love. Catering for both the radio and the streets, it is no surprise why the album moved an incredulous 820 000 units both in the USA and Canada in the space of 72 hours.
Drake’s selling power not only proves his strong brand image but also proves that the demand in the use of digital streaming services over physical copies. Drake also exemplifies what it means to be an artist with a staying power. Despite different artists such as Tory Lanez and Meek Mill among a long list of 6 God hating rappers, he remains one of the prime artists in this generation.
In a recent sit down with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe. Drake revealed his disgruntled with how Tory Lanez disses him and then backtracks on his words. Stating that instead of using mere words, why doesn’t Tory and any artist for that matter let their music speak instead. It is clear whose music is speaking the loudest right now.
