Adaptability in the Digital Age

Music has seemingly become digital as a result of the fast paced growth of technology. Apple was among the first to capitalize on the change in technology which why it comes as no surprise to why Apple Music is a leading streaming service. Rapper/Producer and multi-award winning artist Kanye West released his critically acclaimed 7th studio album Yeezus as a strictly digital release declaring the death of CDs.

Streaming services such as Soundcloud have emerged as giants in the music industry. Soundcloud allows both musicians and fans to upload their music and create playlists that they would have curated for themselves. Technology and its growth have granted users new opportunities and the release and sharing of music has been increasingly simplified. Artists such as Drake have earned over a billion streams on platforms such as Apple Music. It only makes sense for musicians to take advantage of these changes in the music or suffer from being backward like Nokia did when they failed to adapt.
